A friend sent me this link earlier. If you make websites or have a vague understanding of colour hex codes then you might find it fun. I scored 9.

This website lets you create your own true type font.

Minotaur Shock

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

As I was driving home from work on Friday I got a text from Rosie asking if I wanted to go and see Minotaur Shock at the Arc Bar. Not remembering who they were I looked them up when I got home and decided that yes, yes I would like to go and see them. They were ace. Arc bar is also ace because it serves Thatchers on tap :)

Fingernails

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I think I have some sort of OCD complex about keeping my fingernails short. I can’t stand my nails being more than a few millimeters long. As soon as they get any longer than “short” I find that I have to cut them right back as far as I can. I hate the feeling of having anything under my fingernails and even if I clean them it still feels wrong.

I now have 10 very short fingernails again.

Tacos at Becky & Dave’s

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

On Sunday evening I was invited round to Becky and Dave’s flat for tacos. I met Rosie in the Smile shop before we went to Bottoms Up to buy some beer. The beer was quite heavy, especially by the time we had walked up the hill to our hosts flat.

On arrival Becky and Dave were still preparing the meal. Dave was stirring a large pot of chilli on the stove while Becky was organising various dips and taco shells. We talked loads and then settled down with the food to watch Casualty and Jane Eyre.

It is really nice to have these communal eating event things. Makes Sundays much less boring.

Rocotillos, Bristol

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

A few weeks ago Rosie suggested that we meet up for milkshakes. Loving milkshakes as much as I do I immediately jumped at the chance to sample one from an American diner style restaurant.

Andi, Rosie, Dave and I arrived at around 1.30 in the afternoon. We managed to get a booth at the side of the fairly small restaurant. I ordered an extra thick caramel milkshake and a Cajun chicken burger. The milkshake arrived really quickly with the burger following only a few minutes later.

The caramel milkshake was really thick. It was almost as thick as ice cream. It was served in a small glass with a straw; however they did leave the large metal container which was about half full. The Cajun burger was very nice if a bit greasy, however most of the grease ran out onto the plate so it was just perfect when bitten into.

A very nice afternoon, at least until Andi realised he hadn’t paid and displayed!

Lift sharing

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

A number of months ago I signed up with the website Liftshare.com. They provide a service whereby people who commute to work can get together and share lifts. The sharers split the cost of the petrol and it also, in theory, helps the environment by removing another potential vehicle from the roads.

I now car share with Judith who lives just up the road from me in Bristol and commutes to an industrial estate on the edge of Chippenham that I drive past every day. She was taking the train to work but it was costing her over £150 per month and she was getting home anything up to two hours after me. Now petrol will cost us £14 a week each which is quite a saving for both her and me.

On our first day of car sharing the road network, with almost comic timing, failed us. A 10 mile tail back on the M4, due to an 9 car pile-up, caused me to be almost half an hour late for work when normally I arrive about a quarter of an hour early.
