Xpression FM Website Project

Introduction

Xpression FM is the radio station for the University of Exeter. During the year 2000 they re-branded from University Radio Exeter to their current name, Xpression FM. To go with the re-branding it was necessary to create a new website.

As part of Daniel's computer science degree course a major project had to be undertaken, documented, and produced as part of the final year of study. With the re-branding of Xpression FM and the necessity to embark on a project it was decided to combine the two and produce a content managed website.

Objectives

• Provide a community website for listeners and members of Xpression FM
• Allow non-technical publishing of website content through a web interface
• Produce a viable Computer Science course project

Intended Audience

• Listeners of Xpression FM
• Members of the radio station
• Students and potential students of Exeter University
• Examination assessors

Technology

Written using PHP and MySQL this website wouldn.t be viewed as being cutting edge today but at the time it was still quite novel to have a slim line content management system without extensive code bloat.
